Here are 5 ways to be more environmentally friendly and to help protect our planet. It's simple and easy!
1. Eat Less Meat & Shop Locally Grown Products
Become a flexitarian and reduce meat consumption by eating more plant-based foods could reduce your carbon and water footprints. Also, it's important to buy locally grown products. When you shop locally instead of buying products that were shipped from the other side of the world, you are cutting out the carbon footprint of long distance transportation.
2. Use Reusable Cups and Bottles
Billions of cups and bottles are thrown away each year. By using reusable coffee cups and water bottles could reduce the amount of trash that goes to landfills as well as the amount of water that is used in plastic production process.
3. Walk or Ride Your Bike
Walking and riding a bike is not only environmentally friendly, but also good for your health. You will exercise more, which will improve your health and naturally boost your mood as well.
4. Wash in Warm
Try to wash with warm or cold water as often as possible. According to research, reducing the temperature by just 10°C can save around 60% of the energy used in laundry as about 90% of the energy used in washing machine is for heating the water.
5. Use Sustainable Products
Use sustainable products that are made from natural and eco-friendly materials such as bamboo, rattan, etc. At Olive & Iris, we always try to source our materials domestically. In doing so, we help and support the local Thai community. Everything is bought at a fair price, which helps strengthen the local economy as well as empower small businesses.
We avoid materials such as stainless steel/steel, glass, plastic. As these materials are not derived from nature. Their production processes have various environmental impacts, including air emissions, wastewater contaminants, hazardous wastes, and solid wastes. Furthermore, these materials are not biodegradable, which means they can’t easily be decomposed.
